Meet Our
Managing Director
Chris Burns, 3rd generation Burns Construction builder, stepped into the business to lead it to where it is today.
Chris works tirelessly with and for his clients to ensure that their project, no matter the size, is to their vision.
Chris learnt his trade from both his father and grandfather. As a 7-year-old, Chris remembers loving going to work with Dad and mucking in on-site. Chris loved learning the craftsmanship and the “old way” of doing things from his grandfather, some of which are still used today. Chris also picked up his father’s drive for constant improvement, to find ways to make it better, smarter, simpler.
OUR HISTORY
1964
In 1964 WM Burns founded what would later become Burns Construction. WM Burns had a varied career over his lifetime, serving in WW2 with the navy and being part of the construction team for both Hamilton’s Fairfield Bridge and the Karapiro Dam.
1975
In 1975 he handed the reigns over to his son Alex Burns and they continued to evolve and stamp their name over many spec and large home builds around the Waikato.
2017
Chris Burns, the 3rd generation Burns Construction builder, stepped into the business to lead it to where it is today. Chris, with his wife Dairne, have 3 wonderful children. Chris is optimistic that the future will see one or all of them completing their apprenticeships and Burns Construction can be handed over to the 4th generation.
